Buying a licence
Payment is handled by Stripe on a page Stripe hosts. We never see your card number. Stripe tells us that a payment succeeded, its reference, and your email address and name.
We store your email address, the name you want on the licence, the Stripe payment reference and the licence key we issued, so that we can send the key again, answer support questions and honour a refund.
We send you one email with your key. We do not use your address for marketing.
What the licence key is
The key is a signed piece of text that contains the name you chose, the edition, the major version, the number of Macs it covers and a random licence number. Fluxfer checks it on your Mac, offline.
When you activate a Mac, the code you enter carries a number Fluxfer derives from that Mac's hardware identifier and your licence number. The identifier itself never leaves the Mac, and the number means nothing outside your licence. We store it with the time of activation and of release, so that we can count the Macs a licence is used on.
When a licence is refunded we put its random number on a public list of revoked licences. The list holds no names or email addresses.
How long we keep it
We keep the licence record for as long as the licence is in use, and payment records for as long as the law requires. You can ask us to correct or delete what we hold about you.
